I started a post yesterday. In the aftermath of the events that unfolded at the Capitol building, I didn’t. To be clear, I am not part of the love & light brigade so if that’s your jam, you may not want to read further. Just as I am held accountable for my actions & words, I believe there are folks who are far overdue for their dose of comeuppance.
I have a hard time reaching my hand across the aisle to anyone who is still yammering on about a rigged election & wants to continue the charade that’s unfolded since the 2016 election. Right now, this hot minute, I can’t. The hypocrisy chokes me.
The difference between the Black Lives Matter protest & yesterday’s debacle? Unfuckingbelievable. Wrong. Disgusting. I will as a white person of privilege continue to do my part to dismantle systematic racism. I will do my part in checking my privilege & continue to call it out when I see it or hear it.

Congratulations to Jon Ossof & Raphael Warnock on your senate wins!
This article was written before the GA senate run-off election. These are the other women of color who helped turn the state blue. https://representcollaborative.com/stories/meet-the-black-women-who-flipped-georgia It wasn’t white folks who changed the course of this election. It was our black/brown/POC sisters & brothers. White folks would do well to remember that fact.
Now, it’s up to the elected democratic officials to roll up their sleeves & get to work. We are watching. We are no longer tolerant of the status quo. We demand change so all people can have a life of liberty, freedom & the pursuit of happiness equally under the law.
I wanted to say thank you to Vice President Pence for doing your job, finally. This is typed & said with much sarcasm.
January 6, 2020, the election & President (soon to be Mr.) Trump will be another dark stain on our country’s history. We dodged a bullet. We can’t forget how fragile our democracy is. We must stay diligent & do our part if we truly believe that everyone who lives in the United States of America should & will be treated equally under the law.
And I’ll leave with this about Antifa. Antifa stands for Anti-Fascists. The definition of fascism according to Miriam & Webster is:
1: a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition
2: a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control
It’s interesting to me that anyone who claims they are Antifa is right up there in the “bad dude” category as a white supremacist, The Proud Boys, the KKK, etc. I call bullshit. This was a PR job done & unfortunately done well by the extreme right-wing groups.
I would submit that it’s taking the focus off the group(s) that should be called out for their fascist behavior.
