By clicking on the picture above, you will be taken to the Day 2 AEDM page where you can catch up on the creative goodness from fellow participants.
Due to a change in the school schedule that would have happened in spite of COVID-19, I no longer work on Mondays. My current goal is to keep Mondays open for lots of creative play & to make sure I schedule a time for it the rest of the week. Today, I played!
I started playing with my daily to-do list. It was time to make a cover page for November. I screwed it up a bit & proceeded to go all-in with gusto anyway. I’m not sure if I like it or not. The point of it all, besides the aforementioned needing a cover page, is that it was a good warm-up for the Creative Beastie & I before we took off full steam ahead.
Next, it was time to create paper mache clay using the recipe found at Jonni Good’s site Ultimate Paper Mache. Did I check to make sure I had everything I needed before digging in? Of course not! Luckily, I had just enough of everything, even the toilet paper. Speaking of, after reading the comment section, I may want to grab some extra rolls to have on hand because, you know…
I remembered that this paper mache recipe will work perfectly for my vision of a crown of mashed potatoes with gravy, corn, flies & fly swatters.
Lastly, I glued on the head for Bun’s Gourd Trouble doll. In my excitement, I skipped a step but I think it will work out just fine when all is said & done. Nope. I’m not telling what I skipped either. Nope. You can’t make me. Not doing it.
I have looked at this tree just about every day for the last 20 plus years. I mean ever since it was a wee tree, planted with love by The Hubs & myself. Yesterday morning, I saw the headdress & arms & the dress… I just can’t unsee it now. How did I not see it before?
Have you ever had that happen? It’s quite marvelous when the wind blows causing the tree to sway & dance.
That’s the creative hootenanny happening in Flatlands of NW Ohio today. I have to let the “mashed potatoes” dry for a couple of days before I can start painting. I’ll most likely start on the arms & legs for Bun’s Gourd Trouble & have a meeting with my Gourd Trouble & see what it has to say.
I’ll catch you on the flip side!
Love the journal page! You should also link it up to Art Journal Journey and this month’s bird challenge. And I can’t wait to see the finished turkey. What a creative eye you have. I never saw a squash as a turkey!
Thanks bunches for the compliments & suggestions! FYI, that’s not a turkey I’m creating. Mwhahahahahaha!! You’ll see as I get further along. 🙂
I like how this is advancing. I tried that paper mache technique using toilet paper and it didn’t turn out for me. I’m SO glad it is working in your favor. I look forward to seeing this as it develops. I hope it turns out as you visualized it.
Sorry, I don’t see that in the tree, but I know what you mean by not UNSEEING something after you’ve seen it.
Nice to “see” ya again! This batch is taking a bit longer to dry so we’ll see… I have had decent luck with it before. I also use her shop towel mache once in a while too. As you know, it just depends on what the project wants.
You and I are so alike in art. I too use Joni’s recipe for some of my paper mache’ and for about 30 years have been using gourds in my art. They work perfectly right?! I love what you are doing here. Can’t wait to see the finished pieced. Enjoy your day.
30 years! I’ve been at it for 16 with those gourds. Once I started, I was gourdsmacked & hooked. It’s nice to meet a fellow gourdy gal!
