Day 16 of AEDM

Click on the picture above for additional Day 16 creative goodness!

I had every intention of posting yesterday.  Mother Nature had other ideas.

We were in the line of storms that brought 60+ mile an hour wind gusts through as colder air pushed our way.  When the rain hit it was going sideways.  Shortly thereafter, this tree that’s been on the property forever & a day snapped.  I’m not sure Bob & Bob (our double composting bins) survived.

Luckily (or maybe not) it missed our old chicken coop which is falling apart.

And there’s more! The electricity went out. It was out for 7 hours! Part of the problem was a couple of houses down the road a pole was leaning badly.

We bought a generator earlier this year due to the electricity going out during a bad rainstorm & water poured into the basement through the sump pump crock! But enough of that! Here’s what I managed to finish up today.

Ultimately, I used puffy paint (I could only find white) to create corn. Puffy paint doesn’t get as puffy as I thought it would.

I’m not as happy as I would be with the corn kernels, but I’ve spent way longer on this darn thing than I intended.

Next up, I put a few splats of paint on the Gourd Trouble Doll.

That’s all I’ve got to report from the Flatlands of NW Ohio. I hope your day/evening is full of awesomesauce!

  1. OK, do you live in my town. LOL We had the same storm with 70mph winds, power out, and trees down every where. We are bracing for another one that will start this afternoon and go through to Wednesday. We have our genny ready too. As for your art it is really coming along. You are so talented. Can’t wait to see it done. Be safe.

Yikes! A second-round?! I’ve wanted one for years even though it used to be rare for us to lose the electricity. Of course, 2020 has been a whole different ball of yarn. LOL

  2. lol, seem quite fun actually 🙂 Even if I have o admit I don´t understand it.

Take care. And hopefully no more power loss.

Sad that the old tree fell during the storm. We get some doozies of storms here too…our last one had tennis ball and cricket ball size hail in areas, tons of damage. Needless to say, I don’t like storms, especially the ones with strong, gusty, damaging winds with hail. So lucky you had that generator! Seven hours is a long time without power.

A pity the puffy paint didn’t have a lot of puff. Would air-dry clay work better? That said, the corn does look effective in the pics. It will be interesting to see the end result of the trouble doll.

    Stay safe and well.

Those storms came our way when they left you, only our winds weren’t so bad. Your gourd trouble doll has the best face. Sorry it is taking so long to complete, but I am patiently waiting for the finish!

  5. Sorry to read about your power outage. I’m glad it’s fixed now, though. Too bad about Bob and Bob (great names for composters).

Your Trouble Doll is coming along nicely. Too bad about the corn, though.
